Before I comment on the performance of Dyson DC11 vacuum cleaner, I would like to narrate my experiences of one of my earlier dealings with them. I continue to believe that the manner in which a company conducts its business surely reflects on its product and influences the decision of the buyers. It might save you from being a victim of false, or shall I say inaccurate advertising by the company to push up its sales. Well, I purchased this vacuum online in Spain, but we certainly expect some basic standards from companies of such repute, irrespective of their location.

At the time I purchased this DC11, Dyson were offering a 30-day money back guarantee as a part of some sales campaign. That's what prompted me to try it. But, just one trial and I thought this was not a suitable machine for me When approached, Dyson simply went back on their offer and refused to refund my money, though I just wanted to exchange it with another upright model of theirs. The explanation offered was that I didn't buy it from their leading retailer (ElCorteIngl s) in Spain. And, mind you all the retailers of Dyson were participants of that sales campaign. Further, Dyson (Spain) almost spent 3 weeks to finally inform me of this. That didn't give me the opportunity to go back to Redcoon, from where I had purchased it, and which had a seven-day return policy.



I just narrated my experience because I had to, not that I wanted to square up things with Dysons. Anyway, let's talk about the vacuum cleaner now.

It has a good suction and the collector can conveniently be removed from the unit. But, these are the very features that prevent me from advocating this machine to any prospect, unless, of course it were sold at one third of its present price.

The first thing is the extension pole that may get quite tricky. There is a serious problem with the collector: Its contents can't be emptied even if a small obstruction of the size of a peanut comes in between. Quite often you have to bang the collector to rid it of its contents and that banging causes cracks to appear on its surface. You need to devise your own hand tool to pull out strands of hair or pieces of paper. But come to think of it, Dyson aptly calls it as a dust collector and not a rubbish collector.

The identical design of the ON/OFF button can often be confusing.
Another drawback is the design of the attachment for approaching the area beneath the furniture. It seems the designer was keener to make it sit comfortably in the unit rather than making it do its intended job of approaching and cleaning the said area.

On the whole I find the equipment a bit too bulky and not so comfortable. It's simply not to my liking. But, I must say that the quality of materials is impressive and different pieces fit well into each other. I'm afraid it doesn't offer good value for money.

Very recently I bought a Delonghi Triplo Simac EVT100 vacuum cleaner. It may be too early to offer my reviews on it but the first impression is good. Though of the size of Dyson, it is cheaper than that. It can use steam as well vacuum for cleaning. It's worth the price of a good floor cleaner.

Depending upon the frequency of use, you may just wash the filter once in a couple of months. Another interesting feature is that the parts can very conveniently be removed and thus clear any blockage caused when you accidentally happen to clean up an unwanted thing.

The most helpful feature is the provision of a lengthy hose. It facilitates the cleaning of the stairs and allows you to reach those difficult corners. It's not difficult to guess the consequences of using such a system. As the cleaning is very efficient, you are not required to do it so frequently, thus giving you time to indulge with one of your hobbies.
